New Year Motivation

With everyone focused on the countdown to Christmas we forget how hard it can be to gain back your motivation after all the festivities and downtime.

Here are some simple tips to help you fight off the New Year blues.


Get into a routine:

It may sound simple but being organised and in a routine can really help you to utilise your time efficiently and make your day run smoother.

Top tip: Try organising your work bag, diary and outfit the night before so there is less stress in the morning meaning your day will start off on the right track.


Get enough sleep:

We are all guilty of watching that extra episode of our favourite box set or scrolling aimlessly through Instagram in bed. Getting the right amount of sleep is proven to lower stress and even spur creativity!

Top tip:  Try switching off the screens at least 20 minutes before you go to bed. The blue light emitted by screens on mobile phones, computers, tablets, and televisions restrain the production of melatonin, the hormone that controls your sleep/wake cycle or circadian rhythm. Reducing melatonin makes it harder to fall and stay asleep.


Make Lists:

Surely we all love a good ‘To do’ list? Making lists and seeing what you have to do written down in front of you can actually make the work load seem smaller and will guarantee you don’t forget anything.

Top tip:  Make a list in the notes on your phone so you always have it to hand and can tick things off as you go.


Eat well:

When we’re busy it’s easy to fall into the grab and go lifestyle. However, this means we don’t always make the right choices for our body. Over eating or under eating are both just as bad for our health so by making better choices you will reduce your chances of getting ill.

Top tip: Keep some healthy snacks at your desk or in your bag. Letting yourself get super hungry will mean you’re more likely to binge at lunch time and probably on sugary foods. Avoid the sugar crash by snacking on things like bananas, nuts or berries. Healthy foods can really boost your immune system keeping you fighting fit!  P.S. Drink water!
