1      Introduction

This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) is intended to inform you how we collect, use and disclose your personal data via our recruitment website at (“Website”).  This Notice is intended to assist you in making informed decisions about your personal data (as that term is defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) (“Data”) when using our Website and applying for a job with one of our group companies. Please take a minute to read and understand the Notice.


MTV Networks Europe (a Delaware partnership between MTV Networks Europe Inc and Viacom Networks Europe) on behalf of the Viacom group of companies (“Viacom”, “us”, “we” or “our”) is the data controller of your Data which is submitted to our Website for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”). 


By using our website, and providing us with Data, you consent to our collection and use of your Data as described in this Notice.  Our Website usually advertises roles for MTV Networks Europe (a Delaware partnership between MTV Networks Europe Inc and Viacom Networks Europe), Nickelodeon UK Limited (a company registered in England with number 2797365), Comedy Central (which is the trading name for a partnership between Paramount British Pictures Limited and BSkyB Comedy Limited), Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited (a company registered in England with number 3147640), Viacom Global Limited (a company registered in England with number 04056282) and Viacom Camden Lock Limited (a company registered in England with number 07139521). Sometimes roles with our US group companies may also be advertised and the relevant US company will be identified in the relevant advertisement. When we refer to our “group of companies” or “group companies” in this Privacy Notice we mean all of these entities we’ve mentioned, including, but not limited to, Viacom Inc. and its successors, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions and groups in the United States.


By submitting your Data to our Website, you agree that it may be shared with the group companies referred to and use of your Data by those group companies will be governed by this Notice and any additional privacy provisions or terms which are specific to the particular group company and which those companies tell you about, including, but not limited to, the description of the privacy practices of the group companies in the U.S. at

2     What Data Do We Collect?

When you register and use our Website or apply for a position you may provide us with or we may collect your Data such as your postal address, email address, CV and other personal information. You may provide or we may collect this Data in a number of ways.


2.1    Data you voluntarily provide to us

We collect and maintain Data that you voluntarily submit to us during your use of our website as part of our recruitment services. For example when you:


  1. provide information about yourself, such as your name, contact details, user details, CV and demographic information, submit a job application or make a speculative application;

  2. sign up to receive a newsletter, Job Alert or other distribution service or request us to contact you with suitable vacancies or keep your details on file, and provide us with contact information (e.g., email, telephone and/or or physical address); and

  3. provide us with Data in the course of email, telephone, customer support interactions.


2.2    Data we collect through your use of our Website

As you use our website, Data (or other information which does not allow us to personally identify you) may also be passively collected by us through our use of cookies, pixels, beacons, log files and other technologies. 2.3    Data we receive from third parties and/or Group Companies

We may also combine online and/or offline information received from third parties (for example, credit reference agencies) and/or from other members of our group of companies with your Data. The information is used to verify other Data about you (for example to verify your employment history and to obtain references) or to assess your suitability for a particular advertised role.



3     How We Use Your Data

We will use your Data in the ways described below and as described at the time that the Data is collected.


3.1    To Provide our Recruitment Services

In general, we use your Data as necessary or appropriate for our business purposes including, but not limited to:


  1. register you and provide you access to the Website or services requested by you;

  2. process and respond to your enquiry or job application;

  3. match you to an appropriate vacancy;

  4. respond to enquiries or requests that you direct to us;

  5. send communications and administrative emails about the Website or our vacancies or roles;

  6. conduct research and statistical analysis of job applicants;

  7. personalise and better tailor the features, performance and support of the Website and our services for your use;

  8. analyse, benchmark and conduct research on user data and user interactions with the website and our services;

Where you submit a CV as part of a job application, please note that we will store your CV, or the content of your CV, for a maximum of 6 months before removing it from our database. You should not rely on our storing of any documents you submit, and should always keep a copy yourself.


3.2     Marketing

Where you have provided us with the appropriate consents, or where the Act entitles us to do so, we may send you marketing emails about other jobs, or other products or services offered by any of our group companies. In addition, where you have provided us with the appropriate consents, we may also pass your Data to one or more selected third parties for marketing purposes. 


However, be assured that we understand the irritations of unsolicited communications and we are fully committed to ensuring the rights and obligations set out in the Act and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 are respected.



4     Finding out what Data we hold on you

5     How We Share Your Data with Third Parties

We may share your Data with third parties as specifically approved by you or under the circumstances described below. 5.1     Disclosure for legal reasons

We may disclose your Data if we are under a duty to disclose or share your Data to comply with any legal obligation or in order to enforce or apply or fulfil our terms and conditions and other agreements or protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers, our group companies or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.


5.2    Disclosure to third party processors

We use a number of third party organisations to help provide our recruitment services to our customers including ICIMS and Online Perspectives. These organisations act as data processors and are strictly controlled in how they may/may not use your Data and we remain responsible for the protection of your Data.


5.3    Changes to our Company

In the event we go through a business transition such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Data may be among the assets transferred. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Notice.



6     Updating and Control of Your Data

6.1   Unsubscribing/amending your Data

Please note that even if:


  1. you delete Data from your user account, some of your Data may remain on our database (so we know not to send you further details or as we’re required to obtain to comply with our legal obligations) unless you contact us as above; and 

  2. we are not responsible for updating or removing your Data contained in the lists or databases of third parties who have been provided with Data as permitted by this Notice.



7     Third Party Links and Services

Please remember that when you use a link to go from our website to another website or you request a service from a third party, our Notice no longer applies. Your browsing and interaction on any other website or your dealings with any other third party service provider, is subject to that website’s or third party service provider’s own rules and policies.  We do not monitor, control, or endorse the information collection or privacy practices of any third parties. We encourage you to become familiar with the privacy practices of every website you visit or third party service provider that you deal with and to contact them if you have any questions about their respective privacy policies and practices. 8     Where We Store Your Data

The Data that we collect from you may be transferred to and stored at a destination outside the European Economic Area. Your Data may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for our group companies or for one of our suppliers.  In particular your Data will be transferred and stored in the United States by our data processors.

9     Security of Your Data

We follow appropriate security procedures in the storage and disclosure of your Data so as to prevent unauthorised access by third parties. We also require those parties to whom we transfer personal information to comply with the same. However, unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. So, we cannot ensure the security of your Data transmitted by you to us via the internet. Any such transmission is at your own risk and you acknowledge and agree that we shall not be responsible for any unauthorised use, distribution, damage or destruction of your Data, except to the extent we are required to accept such responsibility by the Act.
